Heraklion Airport Transfers Help Port Authority Nab Award

Heraklion airport transfers are one of the series of factors that helped the Heraklion Port Authority achieve the prize for Excellence in Services in Travel and Transportation, at the 2014 edition of the annual Greek Tourism Innovation Awards.

Organised by the Greek Ministry of Tourism, these awards seek to reward forerunners in that sector of the industry within the country. The Port Authority from the capital of the Greek island of Crete distinguished itself in that particular area, due to a series of innovations it has gradually introduced to the transportation system in Heraklion over the past few years.

The measures introduced or expanded upon by the organism in question include upgrades to both the Port’s cruise services and its infrastructures, along with a programme dubbed ‘5 Senses’, which aims to improve the customer experience for users of the Port Authority – including Heraklion airport transfers. This last objective is also being helped by the introduction of a number of mobile phone apps, developed in conjunction with the Crete Regional Government. These programs aim to help tourists find their way around the region, among other functionalities.

Heraklion airport transfers were also instrumental in getting the Port Authority nominated for, and eventually awarded, this prize. The award-winning structure has long maintained a partnership with Heraklion airport, with the intent of optimising mobility within the island of Crete, whether in the area surrounding the capital or further afield. This partnership, as well as others established with other transportation outfits around the island, has been instrumental in facilitating access to the Port Authority and increasing its popularity as a hub for cruise-ship holidays.

On hand to receive the award at the ceremony was the Chief Executive Officer of the Heraklion Port Authority who, in a written statement issued after the fact, stated that entity would continue to improve on its mission statement in upcoming years.
