Walking Holiday Is Prize In Newspaper’s Travel Competition

Ramblers Worldwide Holidays were one of the companies to partner up with leading British newspapers (The Guardian and The Observer) in order to offer an incentive to readers voting for the 2014 Readers’ Travel Awards. The company will be responsible for hosting one of the prizes to be drawn amongst entrants to the vote: a seven-night walking holiday to Portugal.

The prize in question is for two people, and includes shared accommodation in a twin room, with half-board, as well as flights from Heathrow airport. The starting date for this walking holiday, which will be booked directly with Ramblers Worldwide Holidays, is October 26. (Entrants should note that travel insurance is not included in this package.)

The winner of this prize will be randomly selected from the list of readers who turn in the completed questionnaire casting their vote for the newspapers’ 2014 Travel Awards. Another lucky entrant will be rewarded with a second holiday, this time to the Loire Valley for four nights, being offered by another partner company.

These two competitions, which are ongoing until June 3, mostly aim to boost interest in the already prestigious Guardian and Observer’s Readers’ Travel Awards. As the name indicates, this initiative gives readers of the nationwide British periodicals the chance to vote on their favourite holiday and tour operators for the previous year. The process sets itself apart as a much more interactive one than most other travel-industry award shows.

The questionnaire attached to this competition spans such entries as the type of holiday the entrant took (for example a walking holiday or a skiing holiday), the destination or destinations chosen, the duration of the holiday and, of course, the performance of the tour operator or travel agency itself. The type of planning the entrant puts into his or her holiday booking process is also taken into account.
