New York, New York ( WorldPressRelease ) July 13th 2009 -Dr. Heidi Horsley, Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and Co-Host of the radio show Healing the Grieving Heart and Dr. Gloria Horsley, Founder and President of the Open to Hope Foundation and Host of the radio show Healing the Grieving Heart are looking forward to presenting a workshop on Finding Hope Again After Loss, and Teen Grief at the Bereaved Parents Annual National Gathering on July 11th at the Crown Plaza Laguardia Hotel in New York.

Bereaved Parents of the USA (BP/USA) is a national non-profit self-help group that offers support, understanding, compassion and hope especially to the newly bereaved be they bereaved parents grandparents or siblings struggling to rebuild their lives after the death of their children, grandchildren or siblings.

BP/USA is open to all parents, grandparents and siblings regardless of the age or the circumstances of the death of their children, grandchildren or siblings.

There are no dues or fees to become a member of BP/USA and there are no paid salaries within the organization. All work on both the national and chapter level is done by volunteer bereaved parents with a strong desire to help other families survive the death of their children just as they were helped when their own children died.

BP/USA has chapters around the country that hold monthly suppor t meetings. Chapters publish monthly newsletters and maintain lending librarie s for their member’s use. A national newsletter is published quarterly. Several helpful brochures have been printed and are available on this website. To further aid families in their grief work, BP/USA conducts yearly National Gatherings where bereaved families attend workshops, sharing sessions and hear helpful guest speakers on many aspects of grief and reinvesting their life.

Dr. Heidi Horsley, PsyD, MSW, MS, is a bereaved sibling and a licensed psychologist and social worker. Dr. Heidi is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and an adjunct professor at Columbia University. She has a private practice in Manhattan, NY specializing in grief and loss. She is also author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry”. She holds graduate degrees from the University of San Francisco, Columbia University, and Loyola University.

About Dr. Gloria Horsley

Dr. Gloria C. Horsley, PHD, MFT, CNS, is a bereaved parent, and has worked in the field of family therapy for over twenty years. Dr. Gloria is Founder and President of the Open to Hope Foundation. She serves The Compassionate Friends in a number of roles, including as a Board Director and frequently serves as a media spokesperson in her dual role as a bereaved parent and professional. She is co-author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry.” She holds graduate degrees from the University of Rochester, Syracuse, Greenwich and Holos Universities.
