Clinical Trials Suggest Fish Oil May Be Helpful For Rheumatoid Arthritis

Orlando, FL – April 28, 2015 - Rheumatoid arthritis is one of the most painful conditions that a person can suffer from. It makes people suffer from a variety of symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, joint tenderness, swelling, redness and joint stiffness. The good news is that there are many remedies available today that could be beneficial for sufferers.

Clinical trials suggest that fish oil may be helpful for rheumatoid arthritis. There are many medications and natural remedies available today that are used by arthritis sufferers. However, there are only a few that are considered to be truly helpful to them.

From 1985 and onwards, data has been collected from 10 trials and combined in a report. This was done to determine the therapeutic effects of fish body oil on RA. The trials demonstrate that fish oil has significantly reduced the number of tender joints and the duration of morning stiffness among those who took the natural alternative in comparison to the placebo group.

"While the result was good, it is also important to note that the natural alternatives were not able to make some positive changes in the grip strength and blood tests for disease activity," said VitaBreeze Supplements spokesperson, Michelle O'Sullivan.

The trials used doses that ranged from 1.6 to 7.1g of omega-3 fatty acids on a daily basis. The evidence shows that fish oil supplements have been able to reduce joint pain, fatigue time, duration of morning stiffness, use of painkillers and the number of tender or swollen joints.

The trial lasted for 9 months and there were 97 individuals with rheumatoid arthritis who were involved. The subjects were randomly selected and they received capsules that contained fish liver oil and fish body oil. After 24 and 36 weeks, the participants experienced a modest improvement in pain compared to the placebo group.

"There were 65% of the subjects who belonged to the fish liver oil group who completed the trial, and 54% from the placebo group," added O'Sullivan.

There are many medications and natural alternatives used to manage rheumatoid arthritis. While many people are using pain relief drugs such as NSAIDs, there are also those who prefer to use natural alternatives such as fish oil.

Fish oil supplements are believed to have a variety of therapeutic benefits. Many sufferers prefer to use these supplements, mainly because they are safer than pharmaceutical drugs and offer various health benefits. Fish oil supplements are particularly popular among arthritis sufferers who want to improve their overall heart health (www.amazon.com/Omega-Fish-Oil-Supplement-Softgels/dp/B00O8NS20K/).
