In a recent report on The New York Times, the Senate has approved the legislation that allows funding to address Flint's water crisis.

“The Senate on Thursday approved legislation to spend $270 million to aid the residents of Flint, Mich., and other poor communities that have suffered from lead-contaminated water, attaching the funds to a broader bill authorizing $9 billion to repair ports, dams, levees and other water infrastructure in 17 states,” The New York Times report stated.

The report added that the funds will be used for projects that will take effect to address the issue. The House will reportedly have the pass the spending as well, and can “take effect immediately.”

Michigan senators, however, are saying that the Flint water crisis is still "far from over." The New York Times report quoted a Michigan senator saying that families still cannot drink faucet water. The senator also called for the House to act quickly as they can.

“The Flint package would provide $100 million in grants to assist states with drinking water emergencies and $70 million to subsidize loans for water infrastructure projects,” the report added.
