TV Celebrity Jeff Allen Takes Home Multiple Awards at Silver State Classic

DALLAS TEXAS, September 28, 2016 — Jeff Allen, star of CNBC’s “The Car Chasers” and “Skidmarks Show” on iTunes, put his state of the art GT-R35, nicknamed #Pennzilla, with 1000hp, to the test at the 2016 Silver State Classic Challenge (SSCC) in Ely, Nevada.

Over 4 days of competitions Jeff Allen and Pennzilla were in top form. The event couldn't have started out more sweet then the announcement that Pennzilla won the coveted “Hooker Award” out of all the contestant of the SSCC 2016 event! Which let to a 4 foot tall green trophy being added to the Flat 12 Gallery display case.

Next up, Jeff Allen piloted Pennzilla to top honors in the half mile shootout winning the Top Speed Award against Z06’s, Hellcats and ZR1’s. On a modest tune Pennzilla bested the field with a speed of 153.9 at an elevation of 6,437 feet.

A tradition, of the Silver State Classic Challenge, is the parade through the historic town of Ely, Nevada were hundreds of families join the festivity and children scurry around to collect the various treats given by the drivers and navigators. Pennzilla was a huge hit in the younger demographic with screams of “GTR” being heard primary from pre-teen boys. Which obviously was the precursor to Jeff Allen and Pennzilla taking home the award for “Most Beautiful Car”.

With three awards in tow, it was time to tackle the 90 mile open road race. In 2015 driver Jeff Allen and navigator Meggan Bailey placed 4th with a speed variance of 5 seconds. For 2016 they crossed the finish line at 51.6 and just over a second off of the goal, placing 4th.

Silver State Classic Challenge:

Is called the “Fastest Road Race” by Guiness Book of World Records and has been run since 1988. It has been attended by such notable participants and John Schnieder from Dukes of Hazard, and is considered the race that helped make the “Big Red Camaro” as famous as it is today.
