Dubai, September 16, 2009 - After successfully running four seasons, popular lifestyle television show High Life Dubai is set to launch Season V on October 3rd, 2009 on Sony Entertainment Television. High Life Dubai is based on a magazine format which focuses on the high end events, achievers and celebrated persons of Dubai. It is the first show of its kind in the Middle East and is immensely popular especially with the South East Asian community living in Dubai.
Produced and anchored by Dubai based entrepreneur Uma Ghosh Deshpande, High Life Dubai was launched in November 2005 with an aim to showcase Dubai’s celebrations and celebrated. The format captured the attention of the viewers, resulting in three more successful seasons - Season II, III and IV. Each season contains 40 episodes, which are presented once a week on Saturdays at 10pm for 30 minutes. With the onset of each new season, innovative concepts were appended. World renowned celebrities – actors, chefs, DJs, entrepreneurs, Heads of State etc – were met and interviewed. The classiest events in Dubai – be it fashion shows, luxury product launches or polo matches - were captured. Celebrities from Hollywood or Bollywood who visited Dubai opened their hearts out on this show.
In addition to this, Season IV saw the launch of 4 new interactive segments – Fashion Flirt, High Homes, S On Wheels and High Focus giving viewers that enviable opportunity to be on the show. This possibility hugely increased the viewership, establishing the show as a favourite with the audience as well as the sponsors, making it the most watched weekly show.
Loyal fans are eagerly awaiting the unveiling of Season V. Keeping in mind viewer demands and requests, some segments have been kept intact and other dynamic new segments have been brought on. S on Wheels will continue from the last season, highlighting the city’s supreme automotive industry. Fashion Flirt too continues from Season IV but with a new twist..
– the segment will offer the ultimate fashion tips and advice as well as host fashion forums with Dubai’s high profile fashionistas. High Focus will also be woven into the new season from Season IV where relevant social issues were brought to the forefront. This time, the focus will be on charity institutes and the immense work that is carried on by them. Due to audience feedback, a brand new segment called Lifestyle Guru will be introduced, where Uma and her panel of ‘Lifestyle Gurus’ aim to solve all lifestyle related queries from viewers, such as beauty advice, hair styling tips and make up dilemmas. And finally, every young girl’s dream come true – the much awaited segment Model Hunt will be launched in association with DIVA MODELS. This glitzy campaign will run for a period of 10 weeks. All aspiring models will be invited to send in their applications. The shortlisted applicants will undergo training and a makeover which will be aired on the show. The winner stands to win a whopping modeling contract from Diva Models and also a super glamorous photo shoot from a photographer of repute. Each of the above segments has been thoughtfully designed to encourage viewer interaction and participation, to make Season V more vibrant and pulsating than ever before.
Uma Ghosh Deshpande continues to take the wheel as the glamorous and oomph-worthy anchor. Uma has many feathers in her cap - winner of Gladrags Mrs India 2005, fashion designer with her own trendy and sought after label “Pepper by Uma”, stylist, entrepreneur, advocate for social causes, mother, wife being some of them. Uma has launched her own production house “A Queen Bee Production” which produces the show. Ever the optimist, Uma has many more plans for the people of Dubai – a grooming school, a fashion magazine and a style-award show for starters.
