European Waterways Highlights Key Attractions of Dijon

17 September 2013: As the summer comes to an end, many people are finding that Dijon in France provides the perfect antidote to cooling temperatures in the UK. European Waterways is currently highlighting some of the interesting attractions of the region, which holidaymakers can enjoy when staying aboard its latest hotel barge, the impressive Absolute.

For anyone looking for a late-season barge holiday, France is a fantastic destination to choose. Dijon has long been one of the favoured destinations for holidaymakers, and it is easy to see why. Some of the highlights of the region include:

- Dijon Cathedral, which is a delightful Romanesque building that dates back to the beginning of the 11th century. It also has a crypt complete with ancient sculptures.

- Ducal Palace, a stunning palace that boasts a fantastic view over the surrounding area from the top of the tower.

- Paroisse Saint Michel de Dijon is a beautiful church that is well worth exploring. Located right in the city centre, it boasts some interesting carvings and should certainly feature in a visit to the city.

- Musee de la Vie Bourguignonne, is one of the best museums in Dijon. This is the place to go if you want to find out about the history of the region. There are some fascinating exhibits that bring the whole place to life.

The above attractions and many more await anyone who arranges a Dijon barge holiday. France is a huge country, however, and there are plenty more areas to see, many of which are offered by European Waterways.

There are also many holiday options offered on the Absoluut2, the charter-only hotel barge, which cruises in the area between Vandenesse and Dijon. It is ideal for cruising along inland waterways, and this luxury barge is perfect for groups or families who want to see Dijon and the surrounding area in a unique and special way.

For anyone keen to arrange a barge holiday, France is a fantastic location, and Dijon in particular is always a popular choice. Now that visitors have the chance to travel aboard Absoluut2, there is even more reason to plan a holiday.
