Musee de l’Orangerie is presenting a good reason for anyone to travel from the city’s main airport, Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris. This highly evocative joint art exhibit featuring the works of Mexican artists Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera runs from October 2013 to January 2014. With its strategic location right in the west corner of the renowned Tuileries Garden, Musee de l’Orangerie has been known for being a permanent gallery of a number of the world’s most famous Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art exhibitions. Moreover, the museum is the proud home of Monet’s Water Lilies murals.

As many people may know, Kahlo and Rivera and their respective works played important roles in the shaping of their country’s identity during Mexico’s tumultuous political transition. As ‘artists of the revolution’, Kahlo and Rivera’s works represented the zeitgeist of their country and its people, from lofty aspirations down to the most grounded grassroots goals. The Frida Kahlo/Diego Rivera joint art exhibition is truly unique as it offers viewers and gallery visitors a chance to be able to appreciate the works of the late artists side-by-side. Juxtaposed to each other, Kahlo and Rivera’s works are best appreciated, as it is in this way that both their similarities and deep individuality is most visible. In strange ways, the works of both artists deeply differ from each other, but are still somehow complementary. For avid fans of modern art, there’s nothing more compelling when taking the trip from Charles de Gaulle airport to Paris than the rare opportunity of experiencing the works of both artists.

Presented in close cooperation with the Dolores Olmedo Museum in Mexico City, Musee de l’Orangerie’s Kahlo-Rivera joint at exhibit aims to educate, enlighten and fascinate.
