RKN Global, the security printing company founded by INTERPOL’s former Secretary General, Ronald Noble, announced today that its pivotal Slovakian investment project is well underway for successful completion. The company and its Ukrainian partners, the Industrial Innovation Group, are already a leading figure in the global security printing industry as a manufacturer of security documents such as passports, e-ID cards and migrant cards. Furthermore, the company as well manufactures payment cards, such as Visa and MasterCard and has developed a proprietary state of the art system to screen passports to verify whether they are fake or counterfeit.
On 2 March 2016, the Slovak government approved RKN Global Europe’s €89 million investment project for the building of a state-of-the-art security printing facility in Banská Bystrica.
The Banská Bystrica project is currently in its first-phase of development which involves creating the architectural design for the plant and conducting a geological survey of the land both of which have been successfully completed. In addition, RKN Global Europe is finalizing its environmental impact assessment and providing the documentation for a variety of land use permits which require governmental approval. When completed, RKN Global Europe’s security printing plant will create at least 1,200 new jobs making security documents, payment cards and screening technologies.
Banská Bystrica is notable for having an unemployment rate of almost 15 percent; where the national average stands at 10.6 percent. RKN Global Europe has pledged to add value to the nation and boost Slovakia’s economy while also assisting in slashing the region’s high unemployment rate.
This investment project is significant for Slovakia and Banská Bystrica. The financial breakdown of investments clearly demonstrates that the entity taking a risk is RKN Global Europe, not the government of Slovakia or its citizens. Slovakia will provide a total of €18 million in grants and tax relief in exchange for RKN Global’s investing €71 million for land purchase, facility construction, purchase of equipment and raw material, etc. in order to create at least 1,200 jobs in a region in need of employment.
Ronald Noble, Founder of RKN Global, released the following statement to the press:
“We are extremely pleased to be a part of this initiative and are delighted to report that our project is making real progress. The leaders of RKN Global and its Industrial Innovation Group have a proven track record of success. The Banská Bystrica plant represents a new dawn for the region’s economic prospects, as well as for Slovakia’s prosperity as a whole. RKN Global Europe is committed to creating at least 1,200 new jobs for Slovakians; particularly for university graduates, who are in need of jobs and who are underrepresented in employment within the region.”
Construction of the Banská Bystrica plant is due for completion in 2017 after private bank financing and the many government licenses and approvals have been obtained.
