Portsmouth, NH – September 8, 2009 – Portsmouth Harbor Cruises (PHC) has announced the availability of the Inland River and Fall Foliage cruise schedule. New Englanders and visitors looking for a great way to see beautiful fall foliage colors while learning about the area’s history should consider climbing aboard ‘The Heritage’ for a scenic tour into Great Bay or up the Cocheco River in Dover, New Hampshire. Fall foliage cruises, which began in 1982, are one of PHC’s most popular cruises.

“Starting September 14th, our cruises will leave Portsmouth and head inland where we will pass all of New Hampshire's industrial waterfront, tankers, freighters and cable ships loading and unloading, and pass the remains of old shipyards where military and merchant vessels were built throughout our history,” says PHC Captain, Andrew Cole. “Often times on the fall foliage cruises bald eagles are spotted flying about or up in the trees along the water.”

Built in 1963 in Deltaville, VA, The Heritage is 60 feet long and holds 49 passengers – perfect for an intimate experience and better access to interesting locations around the Seacoast area. The Heritage is the only tour boat on the Seacoast offering tours into downtown Dover, NH on the scenic Cocheco River.

PHC has also proudly gone green and is using environmentally friendly bio-fuel. Biofuels are a cleaner-burning mix of traditional petroleum-based fuel and a fuel product made in the USA from renewable feedstock resources. The combustion of petrol and diesel produces many different types of local air pollutants. The use of biofuels reduces the emissions of these gases.

The Heritage offers many other types of cruises as well such as:
• Sunset Wine cruises
• Harbor cruises
• Trips to the Isles of Shoals
• Evening cruises lightly narrated for a more relaxing trip
• Private charters
• The Celia Thaxter Garden Tour - PHC partners with the Shoals Marine Laboratory (SML) for this tour on Appledore Island
