Beach Community Acupuncture (BCA) is offering free treatments on Thursday, July 16 from 3-7 pm. People wanting to get a free treatment should schedule online at http://www.beachcommunityacupuncture.com. The address is 4993 Niagara Avenue, Suite 206, San Diego, 92107.
At BCA, located a block from the Ocean Beach pier, patients receive treatment in comfortable recliners. They decide what they pay along the $20-$40 sliding scale (there is a one-time additional paperwork charge of $10 at the first visit). No income verification is required. Cash and checks are accepted. BCA offers convenient hours and easy scheduling, four days a week including Saturdays. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome.
BCA is one of a growing number of community acupuncture clinics that offer acupuncture on a sliding scale, capping at $40. People are treated in an open area, rather than in private treatment rooms.
“The community acupuncture movement is gaining momentum nationwide,” says Murray. “This business model is rooted in a value system, that people should not have to pay boutique prices for acupuncture. We want as many people as possible to have access to this very effective form of health care.”
Acupuncture is proven effective to treat pain, addictions, stress, anxiety, and much more, according to the World Health Organization and the National Institutes of Health. “Acupuncture works. It is usually prescribed as a course of treatment, for example, twice a week for a month,” says Murray.
“Unfortunately, private acupuncture clinics have price tags to match and many people would not be able to complete a course of treatment. People should be able to access acupuncture, if they want it. Often, if they need it.”
BCA is a member of Community Acupuncture Network (CAN), a nationwide nonprofit network of community acupuncture providers found on the web at http://www.communityacupuncturenetwork.org.
