Tourism in Tuscany showed a significant growth over the summer season, increasing the demand for hotels and villas from companies such as To Tuscany .

A recent tourism review has shown an increase in demand for accommodation, brought on by an influx of foreign tourists over the summer season. Hotels, holiday villas, and other accommodations saw an increase of 0.7 in guest bookings and increase of 0.5 percent in overnight stays in the June-August period. The data was collected from a survey of 796 companies within the local hospitality industry in Tuscany, a region of Italy which has a continued history of successful tourism.

Tuscany can thank both an increase in attention from abroad and a surge of visitors to Italy in August for these statistics, although other factors also had a significant influence. The research shows a recent change in spending behaviour by tourists, as visitors from overseas are booking closer to their date of travel, with many customers buying holidays online increasing the ease of access to deals. The luxury market is also seeing a big boost due to an increase in non-EU nationals visiting. Despite the welcome reports, June was not a positive month for tourism, with visitors down 1.3 percent, but July brought the figures back with a consistent upward trend in the latter half of the month, with a 3 percent increase in foreign visitors stabilising the market.

August was a very positive month for the region, with a 0.6 percent recovery in the Italian demand, and a 3 percent increase in foreign guests. According to many of the companies surveyed, this continued trend over August helped bridge the gap created at the beginning of June.

This spike in tourism is very good news for Tuscany, and the trend seems to be continuing with cultural tourism still showing a 1.2 percent increase, with an increase in German tourists, and a steady flow of visits from Austria and Switzerland keeping up the demand for accommodation from companies like To Tuscany.
