Historical reports reveal that the origin of Segedin is related to the poet, writer and journalist Josef Szekely, although many rumours regarding its origin had evolved due to the name of the recipe. The ingredients required for the dish are 750g pork, 1kg white sauerkraut, 100g bacon, 300ml sour cream, 300ml 10light beer, 3 large onions, 3 cloves garlic, 2 tablespoons lard, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, 2 tablespoon flour, 5 heaped teaspoons ground sweet paprika, 1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds 2 red chillies, 2 bay leaves, salt and pepper.

It is known to be served best with dumplings or bread.
