Man Starts a GoFundMe Campaign to Help Save Ailing Legendary Playback Singer.

Having entertained so many movie watchers with his brand of scintillating and captivating playback music, popular Bangladeshi playback singer Andrew Kishore now needs his fans and well-wishers more than ever before as he battles with cancer in a Singapore General Hospital. Andrew was diagnosed with aggressive diffuse large B cell lymphoma after going for a normal medical checkup and will need to go through 18 sessions of chemotherapy to regain full health. The treatment is estimated to cost over Tk 20 million and while his family has done their best to offset the bills so far, they can no longer cope with the rising medical bills. A fan of Andrew's music, Ahmad Hossain (Sunny) with permission from Andrew's wife Lipika Andrew has decided to start a GoFundMe campaign to help raise funds for Andrew's rising medical bills.

Lipika Andrew said, “The physicians have said he needs to undergo one chemo each week, and one of them is already completed, which leaves 17 more. He at first didn’t want the fundraising. But we have no other alternative. We can’t bear the treatment cost anymore.”

A goal of $25,000 has been set on GoFundMe to help offset Andrew's bill but so far only about $8,000 have been raised. Ahmad would like to encourage fans of Andrew and the film industry in Bangladesh both home and abroad to donate to the fundraiser. All the funds raised will go to Andrew Kishore's account directly and proof of this will be posted on the GoFundMe page.

Andrew started his playback singing career in the film Mail Train in 1977 where he sang Ochinpurer Rajkumari Nei Je Tar Keu. He then went on to feature in many other films with notable songs like Dak Diachen Doyal Amare, Amar Shara Deho Kheyo Go Mati, Amar Buker Moddhe Khane, Amar Babar Mukhe Prothom Jedin Shunechilam Gan, Bhengeche Pinjor Meleche Dana, and many others. He is a recipient of a total of eight National film awards for playback singing in films. Kishore is married to a popular songstress Lipika Andrew and they are blessed with a daughter, Minim Andrew Songa, and a son, Jay Andrew Saptok.
