EARTH wins Best Atlas
The International Map Trade Association (IMTA) honoured EARTH, the world’s most detailed atlas, with both the Best Book Based Award and the Best Overall Map Product (the Graham Stanton Award).
Produced by the best team of cartographers from around the world and voted on by industry peers and experts from around the globe, EARTH’s awards were accepted by John Frith, an esteemed cartographer on the project, on behalf of Millennium House.
Publishers, Millennium House, is both pleased and thrilled to be recognised at the awards. The Graham Stanton Award is considered one of the most coveted cartographic awards in the world.
Millennium House took a giant leap of faith and created a new benchmark in publishing by producing EARTH. It is a limited edition atlas of the world and a 20-year dream of Millennium House’s director, Gordon Cheers.
Brackley based Global Mapping were part of a team of more than 100 international cartographers, oceanographers and geographers to produce and collate 355 maps, covering 194 countries, and numerous territories and dependencies. Containing 580 pages of maps and information, EARTH measures 610 x 469 mm and weighs more than 20 kg. The IMTA Awards acknowledge the true legacy of EARTH and the contributions of all those involved in producing this impressive volume.
Alan Smith, MD of Global Mapping commented “It just gets better and better, Earth keeps winning more awards - this time it’s the big one, the top award for cartography. It is recognition for all the dedicated work the Earth cartographers contributed to this amazing book.”
