When Hyundai declared a few years back they would be designing several new high-end models with the eye toward shipping these automobiles to the ultra competitive North American and European markets, the Korean automaker was promptly criticized by most enthusiasts for this decision. The criticism had to do with Hyundai's capability to construct these types of vehicles - they have been doing so for decades, but keeping them rather, the automaker intended to sell these cars below the Hyundai umbrella. Hyundai has gone ahead and introduced its flagship Genesis sedan to the US and will promptly follow that car up with the Genesis coupe. Like it or not like it, Hyundai undercutting its competitors by thousands of dollars and is pushing on upmarket using a car that is surprisingly lavish.

As it rolls out the Genesis Hyundai has several automobiles that are popular in its crosshairs. Lexus ES the Cadillac CTS, and Chrysler 300 are just a few of the cars mentioned by Hyundai as competitors to the Genesis. Other models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti, and Acura are also fair game, and it's also the owners of those versions who Hyundai want to persuade to think about the Genesis. Hyundai is certain that a number of Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet owners would not mind paying a few thousand dollars more to get Cadillac quality at a Pontiac price, even if that fails.

Two engine choices are available with Genesis buyers: a 3.8L V6 or a strong 4.6L V8 generating 375 horsepower. The latter engine, though not exactly thrifty on gas, is offered to appeal to luxury car buyers who anticipate a lot of power and are willing to purchase it. The Genesis' rear wheel drive stage additionally fits what luxury car buyers desire. These types of autos are typically test on Germany's famed Nurburgring racetrack (also referred to as "the ring") where they are put through the rates and ranked on their operation. I haven't received word yet whether the Genesis was analyzed there, but if it was not you can expect Hyundai to join Porsche, Cadillac, BMW, Saleen, Infiniti, Mercedes, and other makes in the quite near future.

Beyond the engine alternatives (each one is paired using a six-speed automatic transmission), the Genesis is about high-end. Some of its top features include: four wheel antilock brakes with brake assist; electronic stability control; traction control; side and front mounted airbags; lighting that is adaptive; electricity everything; driver information system; backup camera; leather everywhere; woodgrain trim; etc.

The style of the Genesis looks like a previous generation Mercedes (or could it be Infiniti?), but using a base MSRP of $32,250, is priced more than ten thousand dollars less than comparable models. Auto critics are just getting their hands and are giving the automobile glowing reviews. Together with the Genesis but one potentially fatal flaw is potential certainly, Hyundai has outperformed itself: will buyers flock into a value oriented auto such as the Hyundai Genesis or will they pay additional for the prestige of owning a BMW, Lexus, or Mercedes? Time will tell; it will be interesting to observe how consumers respond. For additional information visit http://www.HumbleHyundai.com
