Hungarian Pork Goulash recipe

A traditional Hungarian Pork Goulash can be quick and easy to prepare. It can be a great dish for the whole family. It is a recipe that is quite adaptable and open to one’s own twist. Below is a conventional Hungarian Pork Goulash recipe that can feed 4 hungry bellies.

It may take about two and a half hours to prepare. The ingredients required for this dish are low calorie cooking spray, 800g lean pork steak that are cut into small mouthful pieces, two thinly sliced onions, two crushed garlic cloves, a couple of red peppers deseeded and roughly chopped, two carrots skinned and chopped, about 400g chopped tomatoes, 3 tablespoon tomato puree, and 500ml chicken or vegetable stock.

For seasoning, 1 tablespoon smoked paprika, 1 tablespoon dried thyme, salt, ground black pepper, and a handful of chopped oregano leaves. In addition, one can use fresh yogurt or sour cream as garnish.To begin, spray the low calorie cooking spray on a large frying pan and fry the pork until they turn golden brown.

Once this is done, transfer them to a casserole or a pot. Then, re-spray the pan with another spray of the low calorie oil and add the onions, garlic, carrots, peppers, and sauté them. Mix in the paprika and cook for another minute while adding the tomatoes, puree and the chicken stock. Bring this mixture to boil and keep stirring.

Then, throw in the thyme and season it with salt and pepper as desired. Add the meat and stir well to incorporate all the ingredients.Let this cook in the oven for about 2 hours by covering it tightly. Once done, garnish it with the oregano leaves.
