Saturday, December 19th, 2009

Nikhil Sablania (NS), Producer, Writer & Director of upcoming Hindi film Checkmate, interviewing the ravishingly beautiful actress of film “Checkmate”, Yashika Nagpal (YN).

NS: Hello Yashika, you are just nineteen years now and you came for the audition when you were sixteen, I guess a day before your birthday. How was your experience at audition? What was going in your mind at that time?

YN: It was the greatest experience I have ever had in my life. I was full of confidence and enthusiasm. Nothing was going on in my mind I just wanted to see my potential and wanted to give my best.

NS: I always found you very comfortable with acting for camera during the shooting of Checkmate, and your talent was really a surprise to me. I have never seen a natural actor like you. Tell me, what was your approach towards the acting for this your very first film?

YN: I am really fond of acting and dancing, and whenever I see any movie and if any particular scene or expression of the actors impresses me, I try to imitate that just for fun or just to see how well I could do that.

NS: What was your preparation for your role of Pragya Chaturvedi in the film?

YN: There was no such preparation for the character of Pragya. You and the entire crew made me feel really comfortable. All helped me in understanding the character of Pragya so it was pretty much easy to portray the role on camera.

NS: What do you think of your character Pragya Chaturvedi in the film?

YN: I thought she was a brave, smart and a very hypocritical kind of a girl.

NS: Do you identify with your character Pragya in the film?

YN: Not really.

NS: How was working with Vikas Katyal and Vishal Mundra?

YN: Working with them was great fun. I had a great time. They are both very talented actors and they helped me in playing my character in the film.

NS: Do you agree with the message the film gives, that there is no woman for a man in today’s world either as lover or wife if he doesn’t have any money?

YN: To an extent. Every girl wants to get married to a man who has a strong financial status and who can fulfill all her needs and demands.

NS: How did you find the story and script of the film?

YN: The story mirrors the reality of today’s world. Every girl wants to get a rich life partner to have a life full of all comforts and luxury.

NS: What are your future plans?

YN: Well, I just want to be a famous personality so that my parents and this nation would feel proud of me.

NS: Tell us about your experience during the shoot of Checkmate.

YN: It was an entirely new experience. This was the first time I was facing the camera, but I wasn’t nervous at all. I enjoyed every moment of the shoot. I also learnt so many things related to acting. The love that I got from everyone made me feel so special.

NS: Do you think the audience would like the film?

YN: The audience will definitely like the movie. Its very comic, the dialogues are really humorous. They will enjoy watching the film and especially the character of Pragya.

NS: Thank you very much and wish a very good luck.
